I have a light switch that controls the power to my entertainment center. Normally I don't ever want to turn the power off but occasionally it is useful. This switch cover is the same ivory color as the switch plate, mounts on top of the plate, and when installed keeps you from casually flipping the switch. It looks very nice installed. It's hard to tell from the picture, but one side is open so that you can easily insert your finger in the cover and flip the switch. In my case, I turned the opening away from the easier side of the switch to access so it's just a little harder to get to it. Be aware that this is not child proof. It's obvious that it's not meant for that. This is simply designed to keep you from inadvertently flipping a switch.

These were exactly what I was looking for. You can cover the switch but if you need to access it at another time you can flip the switch from the side. I really hope they come back in stock soon as I want to order more.

I had a similar product in a previous home which worked the same. This product has a little notch on the side which allows you to use the switch underneath if needed - a plus as long as someone else doesn't take advantage of that. You could always tape that up to make it really off limits.

They fit over our switches like they're supposed to.

The one thing I'd warn people to make sure is that the screws that they have for their faceplates are long enough to accommodate the extra width that the cover adds. They do NOT come with screws.

At the time of this review, the photo of the package shows two white switch guards from a company named Hemco. The switch guards I received are a darker color (see the image I uploaded) and are from Amerelle. Doesn't matter to me, since it is the exact same otherwise and works well, but I took off one star due to it not being what I actually ordered.

This is exactly what you need to protect from accidentally turning off the light switch you use for outdoor motion lights. However, when you need to manually turn on the light you can easily do so. The previous opinion was a little narrow! This product provides the protection you need with an easy solution for overriding the protection.

Does not lock the switch at all !!!
Yes, it covers it and guards it against accidental hits, but you can still switch it ON or OFF using the open side.

Will return it today.
Total waste of money !
